Biography
Angela (Angel) Kern is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with more than twenty years of technology and security/risk management experience. She was VP of IT at two regional community banks and has been teaching networking and security for 15 years at both the high school and college level. Professor Kern continues to consult with various organizations on security policy, procedures and risk management. In addition, to CISA and CISSP certifications she holds Cisco, CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications. Professor Kern taught the Cisco Networking Academy (CCENT / CCNA) program at York County School of Technology. Professor Kern holds a M.B.A. from York College of PA and a M.Ed. from Penn State. Her B.S. is in Business and Computer Science from Millersville University. She is currently working on finishing a doctoral degree and has recently switched her research interests to cyber-security measurement and training the next generation of cyber-security professionals. There is a profound shortage of cyber-security professionals which she feels must be addressed quickly in order to protect national security and critical infrastructures. She served as a board member for NOCTI.org (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) and is active in many community organizations such as House of Hope and Enough is Enough.org where she trains young people and parents on Internet safety and security.
